The most awaited autumn exhibition 'Hollywood Costume' in London?s Victoria and Albert Museum is going to kick start on October 20, 2012 and would run till January 27, 2013.

The cinematic affair will showcase more than hundreds of the most iconic American movie costumes from across a century of film-making. The event will highlight the pivotal role costume designing plays in cinema storytelling.?

The show will offer once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the movie lovers to explore their favourite characters in movies. It will give an insight into the costume designer?s creative process from script to screen and reveal the collaborative dialogue that leads to the invention of authentic people in the story.?

The exhibition will also examine the changing social and technological context in which costume designers have worked over the last century.

The cinematic event is a three-gallery journey from early Charlie Chaplin silent pictures to the motion capture costume design for Avatar (Deborah L. Scott, Mayes C. Rubeo, 2010) and John Carter (Mayes C. Rubeo, 2012). The exhibition spans a wide range of films including ?Fight Club?, ?The Addams Family? and ?Star Wars?.

The extensive range of costume collections are being sourced from museums, motion picture studios, costume houses and private individuals from all over the world.

The gala exhibition would witness clothes worn by the most memorable and beloved characters of American cinema, such as Dorothy Gale, Indiana Jones, Scarlett O'Hara, Jack Sparrow, Holly Golightly and Darth Vader.

The event will showcase Judy Garland's gingham pinafore in ?The Wizard of Oz?, the black dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in ?Breakfast at Tiffany's?, Sharon Stone's racy white number from ?Basic Instinct', Marilyn Monroe's white cocktail dress from ?Some Like It Hot? and Daniel Radcliffe's Gryffindor uniform as seen in the ?Harry Potter? movie series.
